All Courage Project knives are made of 1075 or 1095 high carbon steel. Why not stainless steel? Carbon steel has, as the name implies, a high carbon content. This results in a very hard steel with superior sharpness and edge retention. This is a generalization as some high-end stainless steels do rival carbon.
The downside to carbon steel is that it is very sensitive to corrosion caused by water and humidity. This means that your knife will require regular cleaning and maintenance to remain effective especially if you are using it in the field. If your knife gets wet or damp, it is important to clean and dry it before you store it in its sheath! All Courage Project knives are powder coated which completely protects the knife but not the edge. It is important to wipe some oil on the exposed edge of your blade from time to time. If you see any patches of rust beginning to form on the edge, a sharpen will remove it and clean the steel. Just like your firearm, if you take care of your tools, they will take care of you!
Courage Project knives are fully warranted against defects in materials and workmanship with a limited lifetime guarantee. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about your purchase. If you are using your combat blade as a pry bar or for some other task that it was not meant to do, any subsequent damage will not be warranted.
